Food, Glorious Food!
Noticed that I have been pretty slacked in blogging recently. Well, since tomorrow is a public holiday, today is a good time to update my blog again!
These are the food that I've tried recently in Singapore.
1. Chomp Chomp Food Center
So many people have blogged about this place! After doing some research, we just went to try this today.
Chomp chomp food center is located at 20 Kensington Park Road in Seranggon. We took a taxi from Toa Payoh and it costs us around $7.50.
IT WAS SO CROWDED when we got there around 7pm.
Everyone is basically waiting for a place to sit. Luckily we found a place pretty quickly and started ordering.
These are what we had:
This is a MUST HAVE as this is so popular- Stall No.1 BBQ stingray! Best BBQ Stingray I had so far in Singapore!I would suggest you ordering a medium one instead of a small one because you won't get enough of it!Small one priced at $8
Gong Gong - fresh and chewy to be eaten with chili sambal provided from Stall No.1.Small one priced at $8
see whats inside! Looks disgusting but I like it! Remember that the tail end can't be eaten so bite it off before swallowing the whole thing.
Jerry has cravings for Hokkien Prawn Mee so he ordered this. He like it and it is from the stall in front.I had a bit and I think I prefer Thye Hong's Hokkien Mee at Food Republic. This has more seafood than Thye Hong though.
Satay Mihun! Something famous at Chomp Chomp. I like it as the taste of the sauce is not too overwhelming.
Before we leaves, I also tapao this Fuk Chow Oyster pan fried biscuit. This is real good! There are a few small oyster in it and the minced pork and the vege goes well with the oyster. The skin of the biscuits are very thin as well. Highly recommended and it has appeared in many magazines and newspaper articles.
Priced at $2.50 I find it a bit expensive but good to try!Stall is located near the entrance and you won't miss it with its publicity!
and..remember to order a large sugar cane drink to cool down after all that heaty food!
Chomp Chomp reminds me of SS2 Wai Sek Gai. However, there are basins for patorons to wash their hands and also a toilet located in the food center itself, which is convenient for the patrons. I can enjoy the food and drinks without worries.
2. Ministry of Food
Went to the one at Marina Square yesterday.

Signature hot stone unagi rice. The Unagi lovers love it but not for me as I feel that there is a stone smell with the rice.$6.80
There is even a small paper telling you how to enjoy the hot stone dish
My sashimi salad- small portion and there are only 4 pieces of salmon but I like the salad sauce.Again small tips were given.$4.80
Tempura Soba $11.80 a bit costsly but I like the soba and the tempura.
after main course, its dessert time! The dessert selection were huge.
We had the signature dessert. Its too sweet for me. S7.80
The service was good but the place was really noisy. Food was alright but not fantastic. I think I would rather try other Japanese restaurant next time.

Gan and Yee Eh's Birthday celebration at the Cave
Saw many bloggers blogged about this place.
Finally I have a chance to go there with my hometown friends last weekend when I returned to KL.
It was a surprise party for ah Gan, whose birthday falls on 20th October 2008 and for Yee Eh, whose birthday falls on 27th October 2008!
I was really excited about this gathering as I haven't seen them for 6 months ever since I moved to Singapore to work.

the corridor
this picture gives you a better view of how the structure is like
birthday Gan, Wan Chin and I
with Prisca in one of the Cave
coconut cocktails ordered by friend
My sunrise cocktail- too much ice I think
Wan Chin ordered the Singapore fried mihun- She said its normal only
Gan ordered Salmon sandwich- didn't ask her how it tasted but they finished it!
chicken chop- nice display but don't know how it taste
cheesy fries- this is quite nice
Group photo
After finishing the food, we gave each other hint to go out and ask the waiter to bring in the cake! Funny part is Gan actually guessed we would be celebrating her birthday with her! and when we returned to the cave without any cake, she was dissapointed and the guys in the Cave started laughing. Those of us who went out didn't know what they were laughing about! Actually the guys were laughing at Gan because Gan told them that we were gonna bring in a cake for her!!!
hahaha finally the waiter brought in the cake and the birthday girl got what she wanted!!! of course the Birthday Boy doesn't mind to let his gf enjoy the moment first!
the new couple, happy for them!
See how happy they are!

Me @ the Cave
We had a great time at the Cave. The cocktails are priced at RM16-RM30. I think that this is a good place for the couples and for gathering of max 8 person.I will definitely return next time I return to KL!
Once again, Happy Birthday to Gan and Yee Eh!!!

My Long Awaited Bak Kut Teh!!!
I have been missing Bat Kut Teh A LOT!!!!
Thanks to Simon who brought me to this yummylicious BKT in Puchong!
Telok Pulai Klang Bat Kut Teh
Simon pouring tea for us
the conventional BKT- This is good! The soup is very tasty, the only thing is that there aren't enough meat. Think next time should order a bigger portion.
first time trying the dry BKT. This is good too. I believe it has been marinated well before cooking it. Verdict: However, I still prefer the soupy one!
Simon and I
Total damage done: RM36

I shall do a proper review the next time I visit these two restaurants again! Will definitely return! As to which one has better crab, I think both of their famous dishes are unique in their own way...
conclusion: TRY BOTH!
It's Thursday tomorrow!
