Shook Lin & Bok Annual Dinner 2007 - The Roaring Sixties!

Finally last weekend was our annual dinner at Avillion, Port Dickson. The theme this year is the Roaring Sixties and us as the new legal assistant of the firm has to perform as well for the annual dinner. We had been practicing for our dance and was excited on the day!

We started our journey to Port Dickson at around 9am...as we need to practice at the Marine Club where our dinner was held. It took us around 1.5 hours to reach the MArine Club.

After checking in, we headed to the beach for telematch! My team , the Titans, lost in three out of four of the matches! There are lot of people in our team that did not turn up for the annual dinner, so we have a shortage of manpower. After washing up, we had to get ready for the dinner..

I would say that the annual dinner was a great success as everyone enjoyed it!

It was unfortunate that something bad happened at the poolside party later on and i lost my mobile. :( I am sure that it was simply because everyone had too much fun as no one intended for such unfortunate things to happen. Lets be more careful the next time to avoid such things from happening again!

But i certainly hope some people will stop spreading unnecessary rumours as this whole issue has been resolved todate. There is nothing for you to gain as we would only detest you more!

My Love and Hate Affairs in China - Day 3

After Suzhou, we went to Nanjing.. Basically there is nothing amazing to see in Nanjing! This is the second place i took the least photo in. I will tell you guys in my next post which is the other place i took the least pictures.

We arrived at Nanjing at around 5pm. Went straight to the place where Sun Yat-Sen (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sun_Yat-sen) was buried. It was raining and it was bloody COLD...

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
then we also had to climb these stairs!
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

It was quite challenging for me as i seldom exercise :p
Finally when we reach the top...
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
it was already DARK...not much view also ..argh!

after dinner, we went to this shopping street in Nanjing called Fu Zi Jie. There is a lot of snack to try there but as we were already full from dinner, we didn't try any of it. The shopping was so-so only.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Heard from our tour guide that there are a lot of prostitute services around this street. Actually i thought its the whole of China ? haha..

The next morning, we were brought to see the Nanjing Bridge. Again, it is just a bridge, nothing much..
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Next to the bridge, there is a crystal ball painting art museum! I am telling you, there are museum, souvenir shops everywhere so that the tourists can't escape!
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
this shifu is quite amazing actually..

Its not that we don't know how to appreciate arts. We Do! I think his paintings are really unique but we were just so sick of those greedy sales girls! We even saw one of the sales girls forcing one of the tourists to buy one of the crystal ball! What fun is there when ppl force you to shop?
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
its nice isn't it?

After visiting the crystall ball, we were brought to the crystal factories!!! Boredom for us again!...zzz....

thats all for my Nanjing stories......!

My Love and H@te Affairs in China - Day 2

Just came back from watching Chicago the musical. It was indeed very entertaining! I've watched the movie before and i love the movie. I must say that the movie did not differ much from the musical, therefore i had a good time tonight too. Anyway continue with my post on my China trip.

Anyway, forgot to mention on my first post that at the starting of our journey, our Malaysia tour guide informed us that there is this "optional tour" that we can choose to take up when we arrive in China. Essentially, this optional tour covers shopping at night as our itinerary is only until dinner time. She further told us that we can consider and let her know when we arrived in China. After our Day 1 in Shanghai and while we are on our way to Suzhou, we told the tourguide that we are not going to take up the optional tour and requested for them to send us back to the hotel after dinner.

After we informed the Malaysia tourguide of our decision, the China tourguide asked to speak to us personally. We were wondering what problem does he has and there he was, telling us in a nice way that we have to take up the optional tour. At this point of time, we were feeling very dissatisfied because they are the one who told us to think about it and decide accordingly. After brief discussion with the China tourguide, we still do not want to take up the optional tour. Who noes that China tour guide went up to the bus and explained a whole lot of bullshit stories trying to convince us to take up the optional tour. All the while we were informed that this is only optional, there is no time whereby it is a compulsory tour! We got really angry and the argument lasted for around half an hour.

Finally i said to both of the tour guide, as we do not wish to hold up other ppl's time, we shall pay the optional tour fees now but we reserve our right to take legal action against the tour company once we are back in Malaysia. How can i let this happen to us? I made up my mind to pursue further when we come back. Then the whole thing ended and our mood for this tour is being spoilt. Anyway we still tried to enjoy ourselves and we did in Suzhou. It is a nice place. It was COLD in Suzhou~ You can see that we are wearing a lot in our photos!

I love the Han Sam Temple however we were only given half an hour's time to walk around the temple. I didn't even have the time to go up to the Pagoda. AFter the temple, we went to the silk factory and we were given two hours in that stupid factory!!! I hate all these tourguides and the stupid itinerary ! grrr.....After visiting the factory, we went to this place called Shi Zhi Lin, direct translation to english "the Garden of Lion". Pictures of Shi Zhi Lin are in the slide show as well. The Garden of Lion actually belongs to a very wealthy man. This wealthy man moved huge stones from around the town and built this magnificient garden. Even the Qian Long Emperor was impressed and wrote something for the owner.

can you see that there are nine lions among the stone?~ I can't...

the garden is five times the size of the house itself!

happy mommy with us

After visiting around and having dinner, we went to this street called Guan Qian street to shop. We were only given one hour to do so. What kind of optional tour is this?! #$#$^#&#&@

观前街

You must lookout for those old tradisional shop here. There is this shop called He Shou Ye, selling very nice snacks.

There is also something very funny in our hotel in Suzhou!

They have condoms and disinfection fluid there!

I have never come across such things in hotel!~ Don't tell me the hotel that we were put in was some sort of dirty place?
YUCKS...

Oklar, very tired now as it is already 2am....continue next week! :p If you wanna know whether i have taken legal action against the tour agent, Stay Tuned!

My Love and H@te Affairs In Shanghai -Day 1

Dear all, i am back from China! Yes , came back on Sunday morning.
Why the topic for this post? I have loads of stories to tell about my china trip!

Okay first story:
When we arrived in the airport, we got a call from my brother. He flew from Uk to join us in China and he is waiting at the hotel that we were supposed to be staying that night. The address of the hotel was given by the Malaysia tour agent. No sight of China tour guide yet at this point of time. We impatiently waited for around 20mins only the china tour guide came. What is this? Late to pick up your customer on the first day?! Bad impression of this tour guide. Then we asked him to clarify which hotel exactly are we staying tonight. He told us its another hotel! Which means my brother is now waiting at the wrong hotel! This Malaysia tour agent apparently gave the wrong information! Everyone was getting very frustrated as we have to meet my brother somehow or rather rite....In the end my brother has to make his way to the restaurant we had dinner to meet up with us. Phew...luckily taxi wasn't too expensive in Shanghai. The starting bid is RMB10 for first 3km.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
took this bullet-like train to the town centre..this train is super duper fast as the fastest speed is around 400km/hr!

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
see?!

After around half an hour journey, we arrived at the restaurant. Phew..luckily bro managed to find his way there. The restaurant looks nice.

but the food was crap!

After dinner, we were off to meet up with bro's friends in China. They showed us around the town area.
