US West Coast Trip 2010- Best Brunch in the World!

This place is a MUST GO in San Francisco because it serves the best breakfast/bunch in the world!

This is the queue on  a weekday at 11am

IMG_5225

As you can see, the seating for the cafe is rather limited, hence the wait! After waiting for 1 hour, we were next!

My mixed berries buttermilk pancake! Oh my, I can fly over to SF just to EAT THIS! The pancakes were well toasted, the syrup is not overly sweet, and the berries were super duper fresh! A combination of all these  = best pancakes I’ve ever had!

I really regretted for not going there again on the day I left San Francisco! Now I really need to find one place that serves nice brunch in Singapore and in the same price range, any idea guys? Mama’s dishes costs around USD10-13 (excluding tipping), which is very reasonable considering the huge portion!

I am going to dream of my pancake later….!

Actually I think this place is overhyped, the food is not as good as Jesse’s restaurant.

So, do you feel full yet? or you feel hungry now?

Hutong Restaurant, One Peking Road – Hong Kong

胡同,a very famous restaurant located on Level 28 of One Peking Road, Hong Kong.

Special thanks to my ex colleague Mr. Lau for recommending this place to me!

This restaurant received its first Michelin star early last year.

To be honest I am not surprised as the ambience of the restaurant is one of the best and the decoration is definitely unique in its own way in Hong Kong!

IMG_3271

Cute little display greeted us when we were shown to our table.

We got the table by the window, which has a minimum spending of HKD$1000. I knew about this charge before going so I didn’t ask for a table by the window, as there are only the two of us, however the waiter informed me that no min charge is being imposed on us. Hooray!

IMG_3270

Hutong Menu

IMG_3273

the view! Sorry my camera can only do so much!

IMG_3283

Interior of the restaurant

IMG_3305

The restaurant is decorated to resemble the ancient courtyard neighbourhood of Peking

IMG_3291

It was foggy that night so no clear view for us!

IMG_3294

Recommend dish- Crispy de-boned lamb ribs. This dishes is best among the three that we’ve ordered.

IMG_3298

Grill spare ribs- very mid charcoal taste, the meat was soft enough but no wow factor to it

IMG_3300

very plain vegetables, wrong order by us

IMG_3312

Our dessert, another recommended dish- Mango Puding in the shape of fishes!Nice to see, not nice to eat!

At 7.55pm, we looking forward to the Symphony of Light!

IMG_3323

At 8pm!

IMG_3319

IMG_3317

In my opinion, this restaurant is highly recommended for its ambience but not so much for its food!

We spent about HKD$800 for 2 person.

Its definitely a very romantic place to enjoy with your girlfriend/boyfriend if you do not have any budget issue! If not, you can come with a group of 4 to share the costs!

Oh, I also want to mention here that I find the toilets very spooky as it is very dark and it immediately gave me this eerie feeling upon stepping in!better go in with your girlfriend, if you go you will know what I mean! I dare not even take photos in the toilet :p

Anyway, reservation is a must.

Food Post - Of Oysters and Crabs!

Oysters Buffet introduced by my housemate at Oscar’s Restaurant, Conrad Hotel! To celebrate my exam is over, we went there for a feast!

The Oysters there are realllyyy FRESH!!!

I always have stomach discomfort after eating Oysters, even from 5star hotels, but I am totally fine after eating the oysters at Oscar’s! There are 10 types of Oysters offered in Oscar’s , from France, Australia, Canada, Ireland and Scotland etc

IMG_2628

The Oysters here are only opened upon request~freshness guaranteed!

IMG_2629

See?

IMG_2642

I Love Scotland the MOST, it was creamy and huge!!! Not a fan of French, as they were all too salty!

IMG_2630

Forgot the name of this seafood, it tasted good with wasabi and soy sauce, the Japanese style!

IMG_2645

More pic of the oysters!

IMG_2635

The Caesar salad there is a must try too!

IMG_2653

The dessert were delectable too!

IMG_2651

Although I am not a chocolate lover, I did enjoy these chocolate balls!

IMG_2649

Other desserts I tried..

I also love their pasta! It was plain and simple but simply to my liking!

IMG_2656

Our wine of the Night – Pinot Blance from Leon Beyer. I absolutely love it!

The Buffet costs about S$60 per person and if you have a UOB card, every 1 adult in 4 dines free.

For more information you can visit their website.

The next day, I had seafood again! This time at Jumbo, National Stadium.

Finally I had a chance to taste Jumbo’s chili crab, verdict is that I prefers chili crab from No Sign Board. No Signboard one has stronger chili taste perhaps? Just individual preference I think.

IMG_2664

IMG_2661

drunken prawn, It was so-so for me!

IMG_2662

Sesame fried tofu, again it was just alright. Somehow I feel Jumbo is a bit over-rated! Let me know if you think otherwise?

IMG_2669

Thanks to my lovely girlfriends who came to celebrate with me!

I think its time to stop eating seafood for a while! that is until next month!

I will be going to Hong Kong for Xmas………..and I think I should save up all my calories to have those tasty Hong Kong food!!!

Have a nice week ahead!!!
